Many Super Speak students, both in primary and secondary school, share the ambition of stepping into the realm of student leadership. But what does it take to be elected as a student leader, and what qualities make a great leader in school and beyond?
Let’s take a look at Alex, a young student nominated for a leadership role at her school. Despite being naturally reserved, Alex was known for her kindness, integrity, and commitment to helping others. These qualities had not gone unnoticed, leading teachers and peers to believe Alex had the potential to be an excellent leader. Alongside 10 other candidates, Alex was chosen to deliver a speech to peers and teachers, who would then vote for their future school leaders.
On the day of the speech, Alex stood nervously before the entire school assembly. Her voice wavered at first, but then something remarkable happened. She began to connect with her audience through clear, passionate communication. Alex shared her vision for the school and articulated her goals. By the end of the speech, Alex had captivated everyone and was chosen as school captain.
